環境問題図解とはなにか？
環境問題図解とは、環境問題の主要な関係主体とそのつながりを構造的に可視化して図にしたものです。はじめに環境問題に共通する問題の構造をとりあげ、次に問題別の「公害」「気候変動」「資源問題」を取り上げています。
環境問題図解を使うことで、環境問題の本質がよりわかり、環境問題と自分たちがどのようにかかわっているのかを直感的に知ることができるようになります。
この図解は国立環境研究所(NIES)と協働して生まれたものです。

- There are three main points to note in the illustration.

- The first is commonality. All diagrams are in a common format that fits within a 3x3 frame. This allows them to be applied to other problems and cases, and allows for comparative analysis.

- The second is structuring. The rule is to place economy and society on the top and bottom axes, and companies and individuals on the left and right axes. By doing so, we can see that the structure is such that economy, society, companies, and individuals are related to each other and affect the "environment" in the center.

- The third is gradation. Five stages are created with the motif of a "traffic light," and the impression of each stage is complemented. By defining these stages, the transition of the time axis is structurally expressed.
環境問題図解ができるまで
環境問題図解は、複雑で一見わかりにくくとっつきにくい環境問題を、共通のフォーマットで構造化して図解にすることで、より多くの人にわかりやすものにしたいという狙いから生まれました。
この図解では、共通の「環境問題」の図解、問題別の「公害」「気候変動」「資源問題」を取り上げています。環境問題はとても複雑で、ここに書かれたようにシンプルに言えないことも多いため、どんな情報を載せ、どんな情報は省くか、判断に迷うことも多々ありましたが、国立環境研究所さんの専門的なアドバイスとディスカッションを経て、こうした形におさまりました。
