Product Overview

Business Strategy Map is a schematic diagram that allows you to get an overview of the frameworks and their relationships that are frequently used when formulating business strategies, from management strategies to business models. 11 frameworks are introduced. When you purchase, you can download it as a PDF file.

Business Strategy Map is divided into the central area and the outer area. The central area contains a diagram that breaks down and structures the strategy, while the outer area contains an explanation of the framework related to the strategy.

In the central area, rather than simply breaking down the concept into elements, we break it down into "questions" to help us think about strategy.

For example, the question "Is your business strategy well-formulated?" requires that you understand the external and internal environments, which then leads to the next question. The arrows connect the questions, but this is not necessarily one-way; you should think back and forth. I hope this map will help you to plan your strategy.

Part of the strategy map (center of the map)

The following 11 frameworks are introduced in the strategy map:

  • 3C Analysis
  • SWOT Analysis
  • PEST Analysis
  • Business Life Cycle
  • Business Portfolio
  • Five Forces Analysis
  • VRIO Analysis
  • Value Chain Analysis
  • Porter's Basic Strategy
  • Business Model Canvas
  • Business Model Diagram

The frameworks included in this map have been selected based on what is necessary to get an overview of the overall connections. (The ones introduced here are not everything, and there are other useful frameworks.)

Product Features

  1. It shows the overall picture of the thoughts required when considering a strategy
This is a map that summarizes where and what elements need to be considered when planning a strategy, from management strategies to business models. It breaks down strategies into questions, and connects them to shows which question should be considered when you plan strategies.
  2. It provides a clear introduction to the framework and its relationships.
The various frameworks introduced in this map are often explained individually, but it is rare to learn when to use them or how they are related. Therefore, this map associates frameworks that apply to questions related to strategy. This allows you to learn the perspective of when to use which framework and how to use it in your strategy, rather than just accepting the framework at face value and filling in the gaps.
  3. You can tell with just one map
All information is included on one map, and there are no accompanying documents, so you only need to look at this. This allows you to keep this map at hand and use it as a map to refer back to when you get lost. No images are used and it is all vector data, so the file size is just over 1MB, making it lighter than it looks.

Recommended for:

  • Those who want to get a complete picture of the strategy and related frameworks.

Message from the creator

Thank you for your interest in Business Strategy Maps. This map was created because we love frameworks.

A "framework" is a compact form that condenses the wisdom of our predecessors. If used well, it can help you quickly notice perspectives that you hadn't noticed before and help you output your thoughts as you wish.

However, frameworks are often introduced in pieces, and the more they are explained individually, the more likely they are used as fill-in-the-blank questions even when it is not the situation to use the framework, which can lead to gaining the feeling that one has done something or a waste of time.

So I thought, what if I could put all the frameworks necessary for creating a strategy together on one map? And so I created this map. Each strategy is broken down into elements on a tree as a question, and the necessary frameworks are associated with each element. I think this is probably the first time in the world that such an overall picture has been put together (if there is something similar, please let me know).

It took me more than 30 hours to create the strategy map, but that is on the premise that I already knew the frameworks and have had illustrated and accumulated the diagrams of each frameworks. If you were to create this map without no knowledge, it would take at least twice as long. So, if you want to get a rough idea of the overall picture of strategies and frameworks, I think it's definitely worth buying it. It's quite expensive, at $150 (about 20,000 yen in current Japanese yen), but I wanted people who really want need this, and I think it's quite cheap if you think of it as the time it takes to research and understand it.

Currently, when many people come across a framework they don't understand, they have to research each piece on their own, find the connections on their own, and use it to help with their strategy. However, by creating this map, Zukai Institute, Inc. hopes to reduce the time spent on this type of work, allowing people to spend more time on more essential ideas and proposals.

I hope that this will help to improve understanding of the issue that many people have when using frameworks without seeing the big picture of strategy, and that it will lead to a deeper understanding and utilization of essential frameworks.

Thank you for reading this far. If you like it, please consider to have one.
