The Purpose Model Toolkit is a collection of tools for editing Purpose Model. There are three types, and this product is the slide type.

Product Overview

The Purpose Model Toolkit is a tool that makes it easier to edit the Purpose Model. The Purpose Model is a framework developed by Zukai Institute, Inc. and Yurie Kibi for visualizing co-creation. This framework, which visualizes who is involved in a project, for what purpose, and in what role, was introduced in the book "Purpose Model: How to Create Co-creation that Involves People," (published in Japanese) released on August 10, 2022, and has been utilized by many organizations.


The Purpose Model Toolkit is divided into following three types.
1. Sheet type(Google Spreasheet version, Excel version)
2. Web Tool type(PURPOSE MODEL STUDIO)*Japanese only
3. Slide type(keynote version, PowerPoint version)
This page introduces the Slide type.

Type 1 can be edited in Excel or spreadsheets. It can be conveniently used for collaborative editing.

Type 2 is a web tool that can be edited more intuitively. It allows editing in a form that is closer to the final format.

Type 3 can be edited with Keynote or PowerPoint. It is recommended when you want to show the model neatly.

Each of the three tools in the Purpose Model Toolkit has different features. The table above shows them.

Since the Sheet type cannot generate diagrams on its own and the Web Tool type cannot save data on its own, it is recommended to combine the Sheet type and Web Tool type/Slide type.

The Slide type is suitable for designers who want to meticulously adjust the layout and neatly make the presentation, as it contains many elements to edit. The diagrams published in the book "Purpose Model" were all created using this slide type.

The slide type consists of a total of 50 slides. The first to fifth slides are explanations. From the sixth slide are the slides that will be actually used.

The slides with number means that the slides following number 1 has one section for both upper and lower half area. For another example, after the slide with number 5, there are slides where the upper and lower areas are divided into five sections. This division is created up to a split of nine. These slides are used as parts to complete the Purpose Model.

Steps for using the Slide type:

1. Determine the number of stakeholders for upper and lower half area of the Purpose Model.

2. Find the slides with the determined number.

3. Change the color (or copy and paste the color of the relevant slide).

Purpose model can be made in these steps. By using the Slide type, it's possible to make adjustments, such as fine-tuning the layout of text, and it is recommended for those who wish to make detailed adjustments. However, unlike Illustrator files, it does not have a layer structure, so you might need a little effort to select objects. (We made all the figures published in the book “Purpose Model”  with this Slide type).

Originally, there were only Sheet type and Slide type, and it was not possible to visualize the Purpose Model as a diagram with Sheet type only, so the Slide type was necessary to create diagram. But we have launched a Web tool "PURPOSE MODEL STUDIO" which you can create diagram. The display screen of "PURPOSE MODEL STUDIO" is in Japanese, so if you can handle Japanese, this tool is another option to create diagram.

Product Features

  1. Allows to create Purpose Model for visualizing co-creation in slides.
    You can create Purpose Models using slides.
  2. It's possible to freely edit text line spacing and size.
    You can not make fine adjustments to text line spacing and size with Sheet type or Web Tool, but it is possible with Slide type.
  3. It’s possible to export as images.
    You can edit with PowerPoint or Keynote, so it’s possible to export as images.

All the diagrams of Purpose Model published in the book "Purpose Model" were created using this Slide type. If you are not familiar with operating PowerPoint or Keynote, it might be a bit difficult to use, but with this Slide type tool you’ll be able to create diagrams and make fine adjustments.
