On October 29, 2026, we released a new version (1.6) of our iPhone app PACE. We rebuilt its look and motion, and added syncing with iCloud.

PACE is an app for goals you track by count, such as "run 20 times a month" or "read 50 books this year." We first released it in February 2026. You set the deadline and the count for a goal, record what you have done, and see the pace you are keeping right now.

Goals like these often feel exciting on the day you set them, and then the end of the month arrives and you are far short. In this version we focused on making your current pace easier to see. When you fall behind, we wanted it to feel less like being blamed and more like "I can still make it from here."

Why ZUKAI makes apps

ZUKAI structures complex systems and information and makes them visible as diagrams. PACE applies that way of thinking to something close to home: your goals and your daily records.

We developed it, from design and UI to implementation, through conversations with generative AI. The first version went from idea to the App Store in 10 days.

What changed

  • One track shows where you are and today's mark, with traffic-light colors for your status
  • When you're behind, it shows how many days are left and how many a day will get you there
  • Compare your total with the even-pace line in your progress history
  • We reworked the animations, such as the one when you log a record
  • It now syncs with iCloud, so your goals and records come back when you switch iPhones
  • Goal examples work as-is around the new year and month ends, and you can pick them when creating a goal

Price and where your records are stored

It is a one-time purchase (500 yen on the Japanese App Store). There is no account to create, and it does not collect personal information. Your goals and records are saved on your iPhone and in your iCloud.

It is also handy for looking back on the year over the holidays, or for setting goals for the new year.
