Our CEO, Tetsuro Kondo, took part as one of the selectors in "One Book Recommended This Summer by 360 People" (360-nin ga, kono natsu osusume suru issatsu), a book fair that opened at Aoyama Book Center's main store on August 7, 2026.

About the fair

Aoyama Book Center has held this fair every summer since 2015. People from many fields each choose one book they recommend for the summer, and the books are displayed in the store with their comments. The number in the fair's name is the number of people who chose books that year.

In 2026, its 12th year, 360 people each chose one book. The venue was Aoyama Book Center's main store. Customers who bought more than a set amount at the fair received a booklet carrying the selectors' comments.

The book Kondo chose

Kondo chose "Nichijoteki Teiko e no Shotai: Koki Shin-jiyushugi ni okeru Kodomo to Kyoiku" (An Invitation to Everyday Resistance: Children and Education under Late Neoliberalism) by Chieko Sakurai, published by Rakuhoku Shuppan. He contributed the following comment (translated from Japanese).

We find a hard situation, give it a name, and support it as an issue. The better that support works, the more the underlying structure that makes it necessary goes unquestioned, and those who give support are built into the far end of governance. To get out, at the level of the system, of a social structure that reproduces the vulnerable in this way, and as a caution to myself, this is the one book I want people who are supporting someone to read this summer.

The book was introduced in the store together with his profile and his most recent book.

This follows his participation in the 2025 fair, "One Book Recommended This Summer by 333 People" (the 11th year).

Aoyama Book Center's main store also hosted a launch event for "Kaikei no Chizu (Map of Accounting)" in 2021.
