About "Business Model 3.0 Encyclopedia"

This book takes on the challenge of how to express the "dynamic changes" of business models. Based on the social and industrial environment that has changed significantly since the previous work, it sets "co-creativity" and "adaptability" as new axes, and features 50 noteworthy companies from Japan and abroad, from the perspective of how they co-created with various entities and how they adapted to the times.


Tracing from founding and the past, to the present, to future evolutionary forms, it deeply explores "why that business model changed" and "how it adapted" with two diagrams plus commentary.


What is "Business Model 3.0"?

Seven years have passed since the 2018 publication of the previous work "Business Model 2.0 Encyclopedia," and the external environment surrounding business has changed significantly.

・The acceleration of technological evolution such as generative AI

・Changes in social structures and lifestyles due to pandemics and disasters

・Unpredictable changes in geopolitical risks and the macro external environment

・An increase in complex social challenges that cannot be solved by a single organization

Against this backdrop of the times, this book newly sets "co-creativity" and "adaptability" as axes, and introduces the concept of "Business Model 3.0."

Moving on from Business Model 1.0, which centered solely on making profit, in the previous work "Business Model 2.0 Encyclopedia" we defined a business model that possesses not only economic value but also social value and creativity as "Business Model 2.0." From there, in this work, we add "co-creativity" and "adaptability" to those three and define "Business Model 3.0."
