On February 18, 2026, the Community Drive Project, in which ZUKAI takes part, held "Mirai Drive Forum 2026," its final report meeting for fiscal 2025, at the Nikken Sekkei Tokyo headquarters building in Iidabashi, Tokyo. The organizer was the Community Drive Project, made up of three organizations: SMART Fukushi Lab (a general incorporated association), Nikken Sekkei Ltd and ZUKAI Inc.

The Community Drive Project is an effort in which residents, companies and local government think through and solve local mobility problems together. In fiscal 2025 it worked in two areas: Kurobe in Toyama Prefecture and Fukuyama in Hiroshima Prefecture. It was selected for the mobility talent development program of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) for two years running, in fiscal 2024 and 2025.

What was presented at the forum

The forum ran for three hours and reported on the work in the two areas and what was learned from it.

  • Kurobe: The people who came forward in the first year took the lead in setting up a base called "Mobi LAB," and residents planned and ran their own small trials (micro-projects)
  • Fukuyama: Work began in fiscal 2025. A total of 108 people took part in five workshops between July and November. The mobility problems raised there were sorted out and put together as a mobility issue map

After that, the organizations involved in the project each talked about what they had learned over the two years.

  • Liquitous Inc.: results of analysis using AI
  • ZUKAI: the mobility issue maps of Kurobe and Fukuyama, and what was learned from them
  • Nikken Sekkei: changes in awareness seen in the data, and the possibilities for mobility
  • SMART Fukushi Lab: where the project goes next

ZUKAI printed the mobility issue maps of the two areas at large size and put them up at the venue. A mobility issue map is a diagram built from the voices collected in workshops and interviews, with issues drawn as circles and the causal relationships between them as arrows. In this project, ZUKAI is responsible for developing the map, as well as for the overall design, the secretariat, and planning and facilitating the workshops.

The press conference

Before the forum, a press conference was held the same day. SMART Fukushi Lab, Nikken Sekkei and ZUKAI took part, with our CEO, Tetsuro Kondo, speaking for ZUKAI.

Report meetings in Kurobe and Fukuyama

Ahead of the forum in Tokyo, each area also held its final workshop and report meeting for fiscal 2025.

  • Kurobe: January 24, 2026, at the Kurobe City International Culture Center COLARE
  • Fukuyama: January 31, 2026

At the Fukuyama meeting, the mobility issue map was presented.

What came next

In fiscal 2026, the project grew to five areas.
