Overview

Zukai Souken has built a tool for putting slides together, fast. It's called Slides.

Making slides tends to eat up more time on "getting the look right" than on thinking through the content. Work as a team and the colors and fonts drift from person to person. You end up spending your time polishing the appearance instead of the substance — something everyone has experienced.

Slides flips that around. Layout, colors, and fonts are decided and fixed up front, and all you do is fill in the content. Work solo and you never get lost; work as a team and your brand stays consistent.

Why we built it

Slide tools have generally treated "maximum freedom to edit" as their core value. Slides deliberately reduces that freedom: layouts follow a set of "templates" and simply place your content within them. By lowering the degrees of freedom, you can focus on the substance far more than before. We think it's a genuinely new slide-making experience (though it may not be for everyone).

It may not suit people who want to lay things out freely and design every detail. Instead, it's for people who think, "I spend too much time getting the look right — I really just want to focus on the content."

Tools that generate slides with AI are on the rise. But when you want to unify the design, or keep colors and layouts consistent across an entire organization, they still fall short. Slides works well as an alternative in exactly those situations.

Bringing Zukai Souken's slide method into a tool

At its foundation is the slide-making method Zukai Souken has practiced for years. We took the way we've distilled complex information into visual structures and brought that thinking into slide creation itself. By designing each slide as a set of "layers," you can lock the layout in place.

Slide creation is dominated by global giants — Google, Microsoft, Apple — and increasingly by AI. Even so, we think there's value in building a slide-making platform from Japan, niche as it may be.

Personally, we think this tool comes into its own on mobile. Making slides on a phone should be easier here than with existing tools.

Features

  • Focus on the content — layout, colors, and fonts are fixed up front; you just add the content
  • Lock the layout — each slide is designed as layers, so the layout won't fall apart
  • Consistent across a team — permissions can be split, and the brand stays unified across an organization
  • Easy on mobile — comfortable slide-making on a smartphone
  • Completely free (beta) — still being refined

Looking for people to grow it with us

Slides is still in beta and being refined. We're looking for people who'll actually use it and help us grow it — telling us "this part is confusing" or "it'd be better this way." It's completely free, so please give it a try.
