On April 8, 2026, we released Kadai, a web service for visualizing issues, as an open beta. All features are free during the beta. It runs in a desktop browser.

What kind of service it is

Kadai is a tool for drawing the structure of complex, intertwined issues on a single map.

The issues of a region or an organization almost never exist alone. For example, "bus routes are cut," then "areas without transport get worse," then "the shopping environment gets worse," and then "the health of older people gets worse": causes and results are linked. In Kadai, you connect issues with arrows and see as a whole where an issue comes from and where it spreads.

It is meant for uses such as a local government's comprehensive plan, a company's management issues and community development.

What you can do

  • Draw the links between issues as a causal map
  • Organize issues in a table by hierarchy and category
  • Collect voices from the field for each interview and tie them to issues
  • Manage the progress of solutions as a kanban board
  • Follow how far KPIs have been achieved on a dashboard
  • Export in PNG, PDF, Excel, CSV and JSON formats

With the beta release, we added the following three things.

  • Create a workspace and invite members. There are three levels of permission: owner, editor and viewer
  • Export the map as PNG and PDF and use it in meeting materials and reports
  • Start from three sample projects: regional issues, nursing care and a manufacturer's management issues

Background

ZUKAI has made Issue Maps, which connect the issues of a region or of society by cause and effect into a single picture, in a number of projects. Kadai turns the way of visualizing issues as a structure, built up through that work, into a tool anyone can use.

If something bothers you while using it, you can send it from "Report a bug / Feedback" at the bottom left of the screen. The service is in Japanese.
