On February 12, 2025, the Community Drive Project, in which ZUKAI takes part, held its FY2024 report meeting, the Mirai Drive Forum, at the Nikken Sekkei Tokyo Building in Iidabashi, Tokyo. The organizer was the Community Drive Project, run by three parties: SMART Fukushi Lab (general incorporated association), ZUKAI Inc. and Nikken Sekkei Ltd.

Under the phrase "local mobility is something we all build together," the Community Drive Project is an effort for residents, companies and government to think through and solve local mobility issues together. In FY2024 it worked in Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture. It was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's FY2024 "Co-creation MaaS Demonstration Project: Mobility Human Resource Development Program."

What was presented at the forum

The forum ran for three hours. It presented the results of the research in Kurobe City and the "Community Drive Program" built from them. It was also a place to gather people to work with on what comes next.

The speakers were the three organizers and two guests. From ZUKAI, our CEO Tetsuro Kondo spoke.

  • Takehiko Nagumo (Smart City Institute Japan)
  • Rie Mishima (Musubie, the National Children's Cafeteria Support Center)
  • Tatsuya Hatori and Yurie Kibi (Nikken Sekkei)
  • Noriaki Koshiba (SMART Fukushi Lab)
  • Tetsuro Kondo (ZUKAI)

What was announced the same day

Before the forum, a press conference was held the same day. People could attend at the venue or online.

That day, the Community Drive Project announced that the "Community Drive Program," built on its work in Kurobe City, would be offered to other regions from spring 2025. Over six months or more, the program combines dialogue, research, visualization and practice to find and develop people who take on local mobility issues themselves ("community drivers").

For the work in Kurobe City from July 2024 to January 2025, the project published these results.

  • More than 90% of participants who answered the survey said they had become interested in mobility issues
  • More than 10 candidate community drivers were found
  • More than 150 online posts about mobility problems were collected and analyzed with AI

In this project, ZUKAI's role is to turn complex issues into diagrams so that they can be seen.
